Durango, Colo. — HETTY JENYLE STONE PIERCE died of natural causes in her daughter's home in Durango, Colo., on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009. She was 88.
Jenyle was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Comanche, Okla., to Virgil and Dannie Tidwell Stone. She married Grover Pierce in Waurika, Okla., on April 17, 1936. Jenyle and her husband owned the Pierce Propane Gas Company in Duncan from 1945 to 1963. They spent many years traveling in their recreational vehicles until her husband's death in 2002.
Jenyle and Grover made their home at various times in Gunnison, Lake City, and Durango, as well as Falcon Head, Okla. Jenyle moved to Durango in 2006 to live with her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Dannie L. Pierce, grandson Charles Spence and wife Tiffany, and two great-grandsons, Blake and Jackson, all of Durango.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover; sisters, Marie Stingley, Ova Wilson and Juretta Costello; and a brother, Virgil "Skip" Stone.
Jenyle has left many wonderful warm memories in the hearts of her many loving nephews and nieces and other extended family and friends.
The body was cremated and will be interred with her husband in Duncan at a later date.
