Joyce Thomas McCorkle
7/7/1928 - 2/17/2009

Joyce, with soft hymns playing in the background, her husband holding her hand, her family and friends surrounding her bed, peacefully left this earth to be with her Lord and Master on Tuesday night, February 17, 2009.

Joyce was born in Charlotte to the late Jenks and Louise Thomas.

She was a homemaker with unending talents! She lived each day to the fullest and blessed the Lord in each and everything she did. She was a faithful servant and her life revolved around her family. With 6 children, 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren who were all entangled in her everyday life, from singing with the 'Dixie Belles' back in the 50's to performing at retirement homes, churches and really anywhere people would let them sing, the Thomas Family Peggy, Joyce, Sue, Nancy, Linda, Jerry and Jenks were always a hit.

Survivors include husband, Carvin McCorkle 'Cobb'; daughters and spouses, Joy and Paul Cuthbertson, Gay and Buddy Harris, Melody and Gary Miller, Candy and Raymond Chastain; sons, Randy McCorkle, Tracy and spouse Tanya McCorkle; grandchildren and spouses Leisl and Mike West, Josh and Ailene Cuthbertson, Buddy and Abigail Harris Cameron, and Woody Allen, Kemp and Teri Miller, Sumer and Pat O'Boyle, Dustin and Jessie Chastain, William and Dana Chastain, Jill McCorkle, Shane and Amanda McCorkle and Emily McCorkle; and great grandchildren, Taylor and Avery West, Woddy and Gaylen Allen, Pearl Harris, Whitman and Sophie Miller, Charlotte Miller and Myers O'Boyle Harley Chastain, Faith and Gage Chastain, Raven, Malichi and Michael McCorkle and Abigail and Aiden McCorkle

'HAVE FAITH IN THE LORD AND HE WILL GUIDE YOUR PATH.' A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at Garr Memorial Church, 7700 Wallace Rd., Charlotte, NC on Friday February 20, 2009. Receiving friends will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the service will be at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Newell Presbyterian Church Cemetery following the service.
