Betty Jean Canosa, 78, of Blackshear , GA., formerly of Jekyll Island, GA. died Tuesday November 16, 2010 at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, GA. a funeral mass will be held 2 PM, Thursday November 18, 2010 at St. Francis Xavier Church with Father Wilfrid Logsdon and Father Cletus Pifher officiating. Entombment will be private. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommie and Wayne Wilson, Dr. & Mrs. Wade Strickland, Tom and Jane Sarcona, Phil and Sharon Lyons, Dr. William Grubb and Staff, Shirley Van Hooser, Mary Pulford and Lou Ball. Born June 6, 1932 in Pierce County, Georgia to the late James Clyde and Mary Ellen Crews Swindle, she was a former secretary with Babcock and Wilcox. Mrs. Canosa was a graduate of Brantley County High School and had been a resident of Jekyll Island for the past 35 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mrs. Canosa was a member of Jekyll Island Garden Club, Jekyll Island Catholic Women and Jekyll Island Citizens Association. She loved her grandchildren and her special great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Canosa. She is survived by a step son, Kenneth Canosa and wife Sharon of Greenville, NC, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and visitation following from 7PM until 8PM. Memorials...
