JACK CAMPBELL IS SHOT WHILE HUNTING NEAR HARRISBURG
SON OF FOUNDER OF DAILY GUARD MEETS DEATH IN LINN COUNTY FROM ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF SHOTGUN

Jackson Campbell, age 17, son of Mrs. Idaho Campbell, 252 Pearl street, was instantly killed while hunting north of Harrisburg on Saturday afternoon.

Young Campbell, who was a member of the Eugene high school football team, was in the habit of going to Harrisburg about once every two weeks and hunting with his cousins, sons of Bolivar Cogswell, of that place. In company with his cousin, John Cogswell, and another hunter whom they had met, he had been resting and the three had agreed to separate and had arisen and the other two had turned but had not had time to take a step, when they heard his gun and turning, found him with the top of his head blown off.

The body was taken to the home of his uncle and his mother summoned. She went to Harrisburg at once and the body was removed to this city.

Jack Campbell, beloved son of Idaho Campbell, was buried at the Odd Fellows cemetery at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. His death occurred on Saturday; he was shot while hunting, his gun by sad mischance being accidently discharged.

Jackson Frazer Campbell, 17 years old, is the young son of Idaho and Ira L. Campbell. Jack lies asleep by the side of his father. He leaves behind his heart-sorrowing mother, a brother, Cogswell Campbell, who is in the naval service, stationed at the submarine base at San Pedro, Calf.; two sisters, Celeste Campbell and Dr. Eva Frazer, who are in the east.

All who knew Jack loved him, his strong magnetism, splendid personality and happy disposition will never be forgotten. His clean young soul goes ever on.
