Margaretta "Rheta" Kilmer was born to Mary Ann (Rice) and Philip Kilmer on 07 February 1832 in Pennsylvania.

She married (1st) James Hill on 30 December 1852. Her son JOHN H. HILL was born about 1854 in Pennsylvania. James Hill died while serving in the Civil War.

Rheta married (2nd) Daniel Edwin Winfield on 16 November 1865 in Pennsylvania. He had also served in the Civil War. [Co. A, 137th Infantry Reg PA. and Co. M, 3rd Heavy Artillery Reg. PA.] Daniel brought to the marriage four sons: George Henry Winfield, Lafayette Winfield, John E. Winfield and Daniel Webster Winfield.

Daniel E. and Rheta migrated to Russell County, Kansas arriving there before the 1875 Census. They lived in Russell County, Kansas until their deaths.

Her step-son, John E. Winfield is buried beside them in Space 5. Her son John H. Hill is in this same cemetery beside his wife, Francis E. (Block 2, Lot 65).

Concerning her other three step-sons: George Henry Winfield is buried in Topeka, KS. beside his wife, Barbara ; Lafayette Winfield is buried in Rolla, Missouri ; Daniel W. Winfield is buried near Billings, OK. next to his wife, Sarah Elizabeth.

I have been unable to find where her 1st husband, James Hill is buried. --- vlww.
