Obituary:
The funeral of Captain J. T. Barksdale, were conducted at the home of his brother, J. W. Barksdale, Thursday afternoon at three-thirty o'clock, by the Rev. Frank W. Harlow, of the First Christian Church, of Danville, of which Captain Barksdale was a member, assisted by Rev. C. E. Otey, of the First Christian Church, Spray, of which church he was a member for several years while he was a resident of Leaksville…

The pall bearers were as follows: J.C. Warthen, R.L. Nance, R.H. Hundley, Clyde Dalton, L.R. Fair, H.R. Warf, J.W. Fulton, all of whom were railroad men….

The special train which brought the remains here for burial was sent by the Danville & Western free of charge and the following train crew volunteered their services…..

Captain Barksdale is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Roxie Hailey, of Leaksville, five daughters Lillian, Marguerite, Roxie, Doris, Ann and five sons, James, Lawrence, Julian, Carlyle, and Bill. He also leaves four brothers and two sisters: T.C. Barksdale, J.W. Barksdale, L.M. Barksdale, Mrs. C.A. Donnell, of Burlington, And Mrs. F. L. Miller, of Salisbury.

The remains were interred at the Baptist Cemetery, at Leaksville, where there gathered a large number of friends to pay their respects to their widely known loved friend.
