His widow filed for pension in Henry County, Va.

During this time (1843 to 1906) Henry County became world renowned for its plug tobacco of exquisite quality.
There was B. F. Gravelys' "Superior", Peyton Gravelys' "Honey Dew", H. C. Lesters' "Lester's Fig", "Log Cabin" and "Honest John"
By 1906, hardly a single tobacco factory remained in operation.
A majority of them went out of business during the panic of that year. Others were absorbed by larger firms which are today the leaders of the industry and the creators of some of the largest fortunes in in Americas.
