Staff Sgt. Timothy P. Davis, 28, of Aberdeen, Wash.; assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Fla.; died Feb. 20 at Oruzgan, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

Timothy Peter Davis was born to Mike and Sally (Sheldon) Davis on February 11, 1981. While serving his country in the USAF, he was killed in action in Afghanistan on February 20, 2009.

Tim, his older brother, Ben and younger sister, Noel, grew up in Montesano. Tim was involved with many sporting events throughout his years starting at a young age. Family times were spent in the outdoors that Tim dearly loved. Tim was generous, caring, competitive, strong willed, and saw the good in everyone.

He graduated from Montesano High School in 1999. While in high school, Tim excelled in academics, football, wrestling, and track. Tim was athletically gifted, which took him to the state football playoffs in his senior year and he also placed 7th at state for wrestling that year. He was well liked by teachers, classmates, and coaches. One coach told his mother, "he is the cream….like on milk, he doesn't brag, or boast he just rises to the top, he's the best".

After graduation Tim enlisted in the United States Air Force. He completed his basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas graduating December 30, 1999 with the Omega Flight. He then went to Pararescue training, which was his original goal. He transitioned into becoming a SERE instructor (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) at Fairchild AFB, WA. His training was completed on December 8, 2000, motto "…that they shall return". While at Fairchild he met Meagan Robison, who he fell in love with and married March 20, 2004 on a beach in Maui. In July 2004, Tim was transferred to Hurlburt Field AFB, Florida, to begin training with Special Ops. He graduated January 2006 with the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron as a combat controller. Tim received the John A. Chapman Award, which was voted on by his peers for most inspirational. He was deployed to Afghanistan August 2007. While overseas, he received a purple heart for being wounded by shrapnel. Tim and his unit received a bronze star for their actions during one combat outing. He returned to the states, January 2008 in time for the birth of his first child, Timothy Peter Davis, Jr., who was born on the 7th of February 2008 in Spokane, WA. Tim was later redeployed to Afghanistan in November 2008. On February 20, 2009, Tim was killed in action near Bagram, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

Tim loved being a father, protector, and provider to his wife and son. Meagan was the love of his life; he loved taking her out to the movies and sushi. Fishing was a favorite past time, along with football, wrestling, swimming, camping and family gatherings. His two favorite football teams were the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers. One of his last events before being redeployed was attending the October 2008 Seahawks/Packers game with many family members and friends. He couldn't wait for the time to share these passions with his son, TJ. He loved his hometown of Montesano, and often visited his Uncle Jim whom he loved and who helped Tim become a fine, young man. He brought much honor to his mother and father. His older brother, Ben and his younger sister, Noel dearly loved and admired him. His cousin, Aaron Blankenship was like a twin brother to him. Tim's competitive nature enabled him to excel at everything he attempted to do. Tim held himself to the highest standard, yet was humble, and he was a mentor to all.

Tim is survived by his wife, Meagan, and son, T.J. of Spokane, WA; Mother, Sally Sheldon of Aberdeen, WA; Father and stepmother, Mike & Liz Davis of Ocean Shores, WA; Brother, Benjamin Davis of Euless, TX; Sister and brother-in-law, Noel and Warren Carroll of Burien, WA; Grandmother, Shirley Davis of Hoquiam, WA. Step Grandfather, Arnie Holstad of Mason City, IA, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents C.E. "Buck" and Amy (Sheldon) Holstad, and grandfather, Harold Davis.
