Charles A. Briggs, 86, of 18786 Main St., Dry Run, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, in ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg.

Born July 2, 1915, in Doylesburg, he was a son of the late Harvey and Edith Hockenberry Briggs.

He attended Spring Run Bible Church.

A farmer for most of his life, he worked at Penn State University, State College, and later did masonry work in his community.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Helen F. Irvin Briggs, whom he married April 19, 1940, surviving are two sons, Arthur L. of Fayetteville and Bruce R. of Dry Run; two daughters, Frances J. (Mrs. Michael) Cavin of Gold Hill, N.C., and Sandra M. Trutt of Lewistown; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eva B. "Besh" Flood of Dry Run.

He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn I., two sisters and a brother.

Burial will be Monday in the Doylesburg United Methodist Cemetery.
