Herman Sidney Bice, Sr., was born on 13 July 1932 in Beaumont, Texas, to John Henry Bice Sr and Beatrice Pearl Baker. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, spending all four years at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in 1951. Herman married Cina Laverne Willis, 30 June 1955, in Orlando, Florida. They had five children. Herman Sidney Bice Sr died, 17 April 1999, aged 66, and was buried with his wife at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.
