Hazel Marie Diehl, daughter of Clarence and Bertha Winslow, was born in the home of her parents near Burr Oak March 20, 1905, and died in Mankato Monday, Aug. 20, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 20 days.

She attended the West Walnut Country grade school, the Northbranch Academy and graduated from Burr Oak High School. Later she taught for a time at Windy Point School. Jan. 1, 1927, she was united in marriage to Dallas Diehl, and they made their home on a farm northeast of Northbranch. To this union one son, Donald, was born. Mrs. Diehl made a home for an uncle, Noah Bailey, until his death in 1956.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Dallas, in 1962; and three brothers, Leland, Verlin and Leo Winslow. Survivors include her son., (sic) Donald; three grandchildren, Mrs. David Wieland (Regi) of Oakley, Kan., Mac Diehl of Northbranch and Mrs. Marlin Beougher (Angie), Grainfield, Kan.; five great grandchildren, Justin and Benjamin Wieland, Amanda and Emily Diehl and Brandon Lee Beougher; one brother, Nathan Winslow; and other relatives.

Mrs. Diehl was a life-time member of the Northbranch Friend's Church and served for many years on the benevolence committee. After her health failed, she was cared for in the homes of Hilda Rinard, Northbranch, and Kenneth and Dorothy Lewis, Red Cloud. Later she was transferred to the Jewell County Hospital Long Term Health Facility.

The funeral was last Thursday afternoon in Northbranch Friend's Church with the Rev. Don Delaney officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Superior Express, Thursday, August 30, 1984
