Dr. J. C. G. Happersett served as physician (rank of Major) in US Army during the Civil War. He served in the Medical Corps at US Army Hospitals in St. Louis, MO., Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Charleston, SC., Maryland, New York (with troops during the Penna. labor riots of July-Sept. 1877), Texas, Montana, and New Jersey . Originally buried here but reinterred in Arlington National Cemetery, Sec. 3, Grave or Lot 1979 on May 30, 1920 (Findagrave # 34547723).
