Frank Charles Johnson of Cherryvale died Tuesday Morning, May 16, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was 75.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 19 at 2 PM in Grandview Cemetery southeast of Neodesha, Ks. Arrangements were handled by the Loran Fawcett Funeral Home.
The son of Peter Hanse and Mary (Nielson) Johnson, he was born March 23, 1920 in Mindin Mines, MO.
He served with the 6th Ranger Division in New Guinea for three and a half years during World War II. While there he received two bronze stars, a Presidential Citation, A good Conduct Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Ribbon.
He was united in marriage to Helen Pauline (Hare) Reynolds on March 12, 1946 in Fredonia, Kansas.
Before retiring in 1982 Mr. Johnson worked as a millwright at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons for 15 years.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Preceding him in death were three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors included his wife, of the home, a son. Kenneth Reynolds of Cherryvale, a daughter, Mrs. Frances Burge of Coffeyville, two brothers Harold Johnson of Neodesha and Leonard Johnson of Jacksonville, OR. a sister, Mrs. Pauline Schultz of Neodesha. Seven grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren on one great- great grandchild.
