Daughter of Samuel Boykin and Narcissa Cooper. On April 16, 1861, she married Isaac Taylor Tichenor. It was springtime of 1861 while on their honeymoon when the South called for volunteers to join the Confederate Army. For 2 years, her husband served as the chaplain of the 17th Alabama Infantry.

She and her son, Samuel, passed on the same date. The grief of their deaths were mentioned in Laura Josephine Nisbet Boykin's diary, " Shinplasters and Homespun".
