Rossina Lena Blanchard, 85, of 26 Liberty St., died Friday February 20, 2009 at her home.

Mrs. Blanchard was a homemaker.

Born Nov. 2, 1923, in Solvay, daughter of Joseph and Maria Spallazzi Basso, she graduated from Edwards High School.

She married Bert W. Blanchard Jr. on Aug. 26, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church, Edwards.

She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.

Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and their husbands, Chazelle and Dennis Germain, Watertown, and Phyllis and Thomas Ferguson, Castorland; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, William and Carl Basso, and a sister, Anne, died before her.

A private funeral Mass was said Monday at St. James Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Carthage.
