West Point, Neb. - Funeral services for Dr. Walter E. Gayer, 56, West Point dentist who died at his home Aug. 16 after a year's illness, were held the morning of Aug. 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church here. Msgr. Herman J. Kaup and the Rev. Robert Schmitz officiated.

Burial was in St. Michalis (sic) Cemetery and pallbear (sic) were J.E. Conner of West Point, Neil Ryan and Alfred Gaskill of O'Neill, Thomas Macklin of Omaha, Patrick Forristal of Galva, Iowa, and Harold Steinke of Council Bluffs.

Walter Edward Gayer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gayer, was born July 29, 1901, at Jamesville, Minn., and died Aug. 16 at West Point at the age of 56 years and 18 days.

He was graduated from Jamesville High School and attended St. Mary's College, Winona, Minn., and Creighton University College of Dentistry, Omaha, from which he was graduated in 1925.

He began his practice of dentistry at Nelson in 1927, where he remained for three or four years. He afterwards had offices in Lawrence and Walthill before coming to West Point in 1954.

Dr. Gayer was married to Mildred Dubay at Omaha Oct. 19, 1953.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Blizzard, Omaha; one son, Jack Gayer, West Point; one grandchild; his mother, Mrs. Rose Gayer, Jamesville, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Gordon Kehes, Jamesville, and one brother, Clifford Gayer, New Ulm, Minn.
