Kindest of the kindly, and "bravest of the bravo," son of Judge John A Cunningham. Capt. C commanded a company of the 6th Texas infantry, Granbury's brigade and fought at Arkansas Post, Chickamauga, Resaca, Mission Ridge, Kennesaw, New Hope, Atlanta, Franklin, Nashville.
