Former Resident Is Victim Of Heart Attack
Clarence Kelby Van Noy, 44, resident of 1615 So. St. Long Beach, California, died of a heart attack at his home on December 2nd.
He was born at Thayne and lived there until he was 24 years of age when he went to long Beach, where he has lived for the past 20 years. For the past several years he has owned and operated an oil drilling business. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church and also a member of the Elk's Lodge No 1328 B.P.O.E. at Redondo Beach.
Mr. Van Noy was born in 1906, one of fifteen children, thirteen of whom are still living. He attended school in Thayne and Afton, and in Ogden, Utah. In 1925 he went to California where he joined an older brother, John, in the oil field. Upon the death of his father, Thomas, he returned to Wyoming where he took over with another brother, the operation of his father's extensive ranch. However, the lure of the oil fields was strong and he returned to Long Beach, where he founded the Van Noy Drilling Co.
He is survived by his wife Christine E. Van Noy, sons Raymond and Thomas L. Van Noy and daughters Patricia F. Erickson of Thornton, CO and Barbara Van Noy of Long Beach and the following brothers and sisters: Loran T. Van Noy, Ogden, Utah; John V. Van Noy, Long Beach, California; Verd J. Van Noy, Ontario, Oregon; Grant U. Van Noy, Grantsville, Utah; DeVon I and Avon Van Noy of Thayne; Mrs. Verna Hoopes, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Ora Yeaman, Beverly, Idaho; Mrs. Martha McKim and Mrs. Hanni of Thayne; Mrs. Bertha Mundsley and Mrs Delphia Ingram, of Ogden, Utah.
Services were held Monday December 2nd at 3:00 p.m. at Mottell's Chapel with Bishop Verne S. Handy officiating. Burial was in the Thayne Cemetery.
