Dr. Jack Webster Passmore, 68, of El Cajon, Calif., was born September 24, 1922, to Walter and Adelaide McLure Passmore near Talmo, and died November 24, 1990.

He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1948. He served in an Army MASH unit during the Korean War.

He became chief of the ophthalmology department at Walter Reed Army Hospital and was a personal physician to foreign dignitaries and NASA flight crews. He retired from the Army as a colonel.

Dr. Passmore and his family moved to El Cajon in 1967 where he continued his medical practice until last year. He pioneered the surgical procedure for cornea transplants using lasers.

He was an associate professor at the University of California, San Diego Medical School.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and the La Mesa Lions Club.

Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Eileen; four sons, Gregory of Santee, Calif., Steven of Lakeside, Calif., Mark of San Diego, Calif., David of Kansas; two daughters, Judy Conner of Santee, Linda Granse of El Cajon; a brother, Bill of Kansas; 10 grandchildren.

Dr. Passmore was buried November 30 in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, Calif.
