Rosedale-David B Modesitt, 73, of Route 3 died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 1994 in Vermillion County Hospital. He was a real estate appraiser for Indiana State Highway Commission and was a life insurance salesman. He was born April 10, 1920, in Parke County Chester C. Modesitt and Orpha Noble Modesitt. Survivors include his wife, Martha Rush Modesitt; one son, Chester C. II of Rosedale; two grand-daughters, Marcy Modesitt and Courtney Modesitt of Terre Haute; and one niece, Claudette Bennett Wren of Montclair, Calif. He graduated from Rosedale High School and was a 1946 graduate of Purdue University School of Agriculture. He was a farmer and 4H leader and was a member of Parke County Fair Board and Purdue University Alumni Association, served as assistant county agent for Parke and Delaware Counties and taught Veterans Agriculture Classes. He was a member and lay-leader of First United Methodist Church at Clinton, providing week night service for several years at the Clinton Chateau. He was a member of American Society of Appraisers and earned the designation of Senior Appraiser. Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday in Frist Funeral Home at Clinton, with the Rev. Lindy Russell officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park at Terre Haute. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today. If friends desire, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Clinton in his memory.
