Mary Jane Galer's list of persons interred in the New Cemetery area of Linwood shows: Earl Y. [sic] HURT buried 07 FEB 1905 [sic] in Section 1, Lot 177 - Sexton M. M. BURROUGHS. [Galer's source was the sexton's card file (an index). This burial has two entries on the Galer list because there are two cards in the card file for it. One of the cards shows Mr. HURT EARLY Y. (or EARLY.), buried 1865 in Section 1, Lot 117; the card was made when M. M. BURROUGHS was sexton, which was JUL 1969 to late 1971 or early 1972. It's not clear where Galer got the burial date 07 FEB 1905 that she associated with this record. The second card shows Joel E. HURT born 1-1-1821, buried [sic - died; there's no space designated for death date on these cards] 5-19-1865, aged 44 years, and the card was made not from a burial record but copied from the grave inscription when C. W. YOUNG was sexton (so 1951 to probably some time in the 1960s).
