Betty was the only child of William T. Reeves and his first wife, Emma Pauline Bethke. Emma died when Betty was almost seven years old and Betty's father married Hazel V. Meline three months later. Hazel raised Betty, along with a son born in 1936.

Betty married Spencer Bloxham 8 June 1946 at Pocatello. They had three daughters and one son.

After the death of her step-mother, Betty's father married in 1961 to (3) Lillie Louise Scott, widow of Leo Walter Girard.

Betty served in the United States Army during World War II and advanced to the rank of Corporal.
