James L. Kidd's parents were Robert Kidd and Esther Neiman/Newman.
His birth date is uncertain and is estimated from census and Civil War records to be between 1834-1838.
James has two younger sister's Elizabeth (French) Kidd & Jane (Ford) Kidd.
He married Mary Jane McCamey on 14 Apr 1859 Rockford, Blount Co., Tennessee and was the father of two children Tennessee Kidd and Leonard Lincoln Kidd.
James Kidd signed up for the Civil War Aug, 1861 with Capt. S. J. McReynolds, James Z. Swan, Co. "I". Men from Blount and Sevier Counties for the East 1 Riffle Regiment. Later to become the 37th Infantry Regiment.
It is the family myth passed down from James wife Mary Jane McCamey that he died during the Civil War when their son Leonard Lincoln Kidd was 2 months old. Which puts his death Jan.1862. However with the Civil War records I paid for say he deserted the war in Dec.1862-Jan.1863. Death or Desertion? Perhaps the family myth should be that he died when his son was 2 years old not 2 months old?. (?)
His death & burial are unknown and I plead for any help in finding his any information. Thank you.

* A special Thank you to Cyndee(#47820196)for searching so diligently the Mount Moriah Cemetery. Unfortunately she was not able to find any sign of him being buried there.
