McCune- Mrs. Cora Embree Batemon died at 10:25 o'clock last night In the Girard Hospital. Death culminated several months of failing health. She was 70. Cora Embree was born Feb. 26. 1881, north of Mineral. She attended Mineral and Columbus schools and on May 8, 1904, was married to Oscar Batemon. They lived in the Mineral area until 1911 when they moved to a farm a half-mile south of the McCune Cemetery. In 1925 they moved into McCune. She was a member of the McCune Christian Church where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Guy Eslick. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. Survivors include a son. Laurel, Oswego; one daughter, Mrs. Lorene Jones. R. 3. Columbus; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Stevens. McCune. The Shigley Funeral Home of McCune is in charge.

It is well to note that Batemon is sometimes spelled Bateman in the newspapers and on Oscar’s memorial stone.
