Lola Cartwright White
A graveside service for longtime Selma resident Lola Effie Cartwright White will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at West Selma Cemetery. The Rev. John Eby of the first Baptist Church will officiate. She was born in Texas and had lived in California for 67 years, first moving to Selma in 1918. She married Albert White, a civil engineer involved in building bridges throughout California. She traveled with him and cooked for the building crews on location. After his death she operated a restaurant in Oroville for a time. She is survived by four children, Bernice Becker of Washington, Robert Graybill of Palmdale; Harvey White of Fremont and Phillip White of Lemmon Valley, Nev.; two sisters, Aliff Ivy of Sanger and Beatrice Schwimley of Van Nuys; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Thomas-Robinson Funeral Home directed.
