CHARLES was my former neighbor when we were in high school. We lived on the U.S. Navy Oil Reserve lease west of Bakersfield and 14 miles east of Taft, California where I was born. We rode the school bus back and forth everyday. The commute into town took 50 minutes, due to making stops along the way to pick up additional students.

CHARLES is greatly respected and honored for his service on behalf of our country. At the time of his death, CHARLES was rendering aid to a seriously injured U.S. Marine and was cut down by sniper gunfire. He was survived by a spouse and, I believe, one child; also his parents and a sister.

THANK YOU, CHARLES, FOR YOUR DEDICATED SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY!
