E. Kenneth "Ken" Turk, 78, of Petoskey, died June 3, 2006, at Northern Michigan Hospital.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, at the Stutsmanville Chapel in Harbor Springs with the Rev. Ed Warner officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Friday in Joy Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.

Ken was born on Dec. 20, 1927, in Petoskey, the son of Ernest and June (Swan) Turk. He was raised in Petoskey, graduating from Petoskey High School in 1946.
After high school, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in the 82nd Airborne and was stationed in Italy. In March of 1948, Ken received his honorable discharge from the Army and returned home.

He went to work as a truck driver for Coca-Cola and later went to work for Schaffer's Bakery, starting as a truck driver and working his way to salesman, supervisor and manager, retiring after 45 years of service.

On Aug. 10, 1951, Ken married Donna Dunshee in Alanson, and she survives.

Ken enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and watching football. He will be remembered as a Lions fan, win or lose. He was a member of the FOE Lodge 2462, the American Legion and attended the Stutsmanville Chapel in Harbor Springs.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna; four children, Jim (Brenda) Turk of Petoskey, June Turk-Reid of Escanaba, Jayne (Robert) Withall of Australia and Bob (Darcee) Turk of Petoskey; nine grandchildren, Ken (Lisa) Turk, Jesse and Aaron Reid, Cyle Turk, and Jonathan, Joel, Joseph, Laura and Jeremy Withall; two sisters, Gloria Duck of Louisiana and Betty Welch of Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Shirley Beer.
