Lisa Anne Jenkins, 53, of Sterling passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 after an all too short battle against Scleroderma, at UMass Memorial University Campus.

Lisa was born on November 24, 1955 in Morrisville, VT to Betty Lou Chapman Lanphear and Wayne E. Lanphear and spent the last 25 years in Sterling. In addition to running her own business, Lisa also volunteered for many causes over the years, including being a former member of the Wachusett School Committee, a CASA case worker, a family resource liaison for DCF, and a charter member of "Fresh Start" a program dedicated to infants and the mentoring of their families. She was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church.

Lisa was a dedicated mother who not only raised her own two children, but over the years provided a loving home to 27 foster children - all of whom held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 34 years, Thomas F. Jenkins; a daughter, Hiliary of London, England; a son, Ryan of Troy, New York as well as four newly adopted daughters Betmarie, Dahyanna, Mariel and Darleen. She leaves her sister, Wanda and brother-in-law, John McDonald of Lake Clear, New York; beloved mother-in-law, Lillian K. Jenkins of Nashua, NH as well as many much loved relatives and friends. Lisa enjoyed quality time with her family and friends, travelling, cooking, and walks by the ocean in Maine. She will be terribly missed.

Words cannot express what a great woman Lisa Anne Jenkins was but the following quote embodies how she led her life, "A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 2nd in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Rd. (Rt.12), Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to You Inc. (www.youinc.org) to help guide our communities youth to brighter futures.
