Donald Rollin Adams, 80, of Southport, N.C., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Willsboro, N.Y., son of the late John and Ruth (Garvey) Adams and moved to Oak Island, N.C., later moving to Southport in 1989.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Adams was stationed at Fort Caswell in 1943. He retired from the Linde division of Union Carbide in 1978 after 29 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing and landscaping and was an avid bingo player. Adams also enjoyed needlework and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ida, of Southport, N.C.; and a sister, Phebe Begly of Willsboro, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, John, Bob and Billy Adams.

Adams was cremated and his cremains will be interred in Willsboro, N.Y., at a later date.

The family has requested that any memorial contributions be made to Ocean View United Methodist Church Building Fund, 600 Yaupon Drive, Oak Island, NC 28465.
