Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her daughter Irene, age 6, husband George, and her son Paul, age 39. Paul was a member of the U.S. Navy. He was Chief Radioman aboard the USS St Augustine, PG 54. On Jan 6, 1944, while escorting a small convoy south to Cuba the St Augustine was cut in two by the tanker Camas Meadows. The St Augustine went down within minutes taking uncle Paul and most of the crew to their deaths. Not many of the bodies of the crew were recovered but Paul was one of them. He was brought home to North Cambridge, MA. for burial in Calvery Cemetary, Waltham, MA. One of Pauls children, a daughter, Ruth and a grand daughter to Eva predeceased her by a couple of years and is buried with her father Paul in Calvery cemetery, Waltham, MA.
My grandmother is survived by a son Warren of Somerville, MA. Also she is survived by 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
My grandmother was truely a kind, generous person. She was firm and always set a good example. Finally she was a very strong person when it came to her Catholic faith. I look forward to the day when I will meet her again, in heaven, God be willing.Born in Waltham, Ma Died in Arlington, Ma, Buried in Calvary cemetery, Waltham, Ma. Nanny you are with your husband, George (my namesake and grandfather) your son Paul who passed in WWll, at sea (my uncle and I named 2 of my children, Paul and Paula after him) your daughter Irene who passed at age 6 of an illness we can prevent with a shot today. You are truly a wonderful grandmother. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed our times together. I thank you so much for the things you taught me and for the man I have become today. I miss you terribly. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I know you are always with me. RIP nanny, RIP. George
