David Joe Yocam, 70, of Orchard died Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Hospice unit at North Colorado Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Greeley to Floyd and Ruth (Babb) Yocam.
He attended school in Wiggins and married Julie Kollman in 1971.
David spent his entire life on the family ranch where he farmed and raised cattle. He was a hard worker and enjoyed the many challenges of farming and ranching.
He was a member of the PRCA and competed in calf roping in many rodeos. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He obtained his private pilot's license and floatplane rating. He loved to fly. He owned a Cessna 185 airplane, which he used to check pastures and windmills on the ranch. He flew to both Canada and Alaska to hunt and fish.
David suffered ill health for several years prior to his death.
He is survived by his son, Mathew Yocam of Greeley; a brother, John Yocam of Orchard; a sister, Betty of Texas; one niece and one nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
