He was well known in Colorado Springs. . . . He is survived by a brother residing in Waseka [sic - Wasceka], Minn., and a sister in Keaney, Neb." (Colorado Springs Gazette, Colorado Springs, CO, June, 19, 1912) [Note: Also survived by two sons, Roy and Guy.]

[Note: While Dr. Brubaker wore the Confederate uniform, his brother, George Edward Brubaker, served in the 10th Minnesota Infantry, a Union Army regiment.
