From the 9th Gunpowder Monthly Meeting in 1783:
This is the record of the decision to remove Elizabeth Howard Garrett from the rolls for having married John Garrett from outside of the Quakers society.

"The Friends appointed has publish'd the Testimony against Elizabeth Garrett, & returned the same being as follows.

Whereas Elizabeth Garrett, (before Marriage Howard) hath had a right of Membership amongst us the people called Quakers, but for want of continuing in the principles we profess, hath deviated therefrom, by having her Marriage accomplished by an Hireling (sp) Minister, to a man not of our society, for which misconduct we Testify against said Elizabeth Garrett, & declare her to be no longer a member of the society afforsaid, untill [sic] she comes to a Sight & sense of her outgoing, & condemn the same by bearing Testimony against such a practice, which that she may be favoured to do, is our desire.
Given forth from the Gunpowder Monthly Meeting held the 27th of the 9th Month, 1783."
