Last rites for Peyton Peeples were held at 3 p.m. Sunday from Williams and Lord Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Peeples died Friday evening at Kennedy Veterans Hospital in Memphis. Rev. C. J. O'Landers officiated, assisted by Rev.C. D. Canaday. Burial was in Itta Bena Cemetery. Mr. Peeples was a Veteran of WW 1 and was a member of the Baptist Church of Sidon. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Venice M. Mullen Peeples, Sidon; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Carmeans, Leland; Miss Dean Peeples, Benoit; three sons, Leroy Peeples, sidon; James Peeples, Itta Bena: Peyton Peeples Jr., Belzoni: two sisters, Mrs. Dan Reynolds, Sidon: Miss Robin Peeples, Morgan City: three brothers, Floyd Peeples, Jessie Peeples, Morgan City: Rupert A. Peeples, Greenville: his mother, Mrs. Tamsey Peeples, Morgan City: and 10 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Legionnaires of American Legion Post No. 29. Published in Greenwood Commonwealth on Oct. 28, 1959.
