Marston Morse was a 35 year old Widower and Shoemaker from Halifax, MA when he enlisted at Carver, MA on Sept. 20, 1861 and was mustered into the 18th Massachusetts Infantry on Jan. 14, 1862 as a Private in Co. C. Per regimental records he was 5 ft. 10 in. tall, with a light complexion, black eyes, and black hair.
Marston was recorded as "Present" on all regimental muster rolls from January 1862 through December 1862. He was wounded through the breast at Fredericksburg on Dec. 13, 1862 and was admitted to Ward 3, Bed 40 at the Patent Office Hospital, Washington. He died of his wounds at the hospital on Jan. 2, 1863 and was interred at the Military Asylum Cemetery in Washington, DC, Section F, Grave 1532.
