It is with deepest regret that we chronicle this week the death of one of this community's best known and most beloved citizens, Bruce Knight, who passed away early Monday morning, April 17, 1916, at his home about four miles north of town. His death followed a long illness of cancer of the stomach and was not unexpected.
Albion Bruce Knight was born near Brunswick, March 24, 1854, making his age at death 62 years, 23 days. All his life was spent as a farmer of this community, where he was known as an upright, conscientious, industrious and honorable citizen. He was married to Miss Minnie Berringer, also of this vicinity, who, with one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Crisman, and one son, Arthur, survives him. He also leaves two brothers, Edwin Knight of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Prosser Knight of near this place, and two sisters, Mrs. Udora Ringer of near Indian Grove, and Mrs. Jas. Riley of Latham, Kansas.
Bruce Knight stood in the front rank of the citizens of the community. He had been for many years a faithful member of the Christian Church, and was known as a thorough Christian gentleman. His word was never questioned, and his whole life was an exceptional example of stalwart and sterling manhood. He leaves hundreds of sorrowing friends, who will ever revere his memory.
Burial: Newcomer Cemetery.

Father: A. A. Knight, b: Virginia.
Mother: Sarah Hatchett, b: Kentucky.
