Died Wednesday evening of apoplexy
a t his home in Logansport,
Corrington L. Alford in the 73rd year
of his age. The deceased was a son of
Rev. L. A. Alford, who was at one
time pastor of the Baptist church of
this city, and a brother of Mrs. A. B.
Crampton, of this city. Be was an
old time printer and with his father,
way back in the 50’s, published the Elkhart
Herald and Sunday School Visitor,
the latter being among the first
exclusive Sunday School papers published
in this country. He, with his
father's family, located in Logansport
in 1864. The father organized the first
Baptist church in Elkhart, and father
and son built at their own expense the
church building now occupied by the
Baptist people in that city. He leaves
to mourn, a wife, four daughters and
one sister and a large circle of friends,
including the members of the Baptist
church of which he was a consistent
member for over sixty years. The
funeral will be held at the residence on
5th street, Logansport, this afternoon
at 2:30 o’clock, services by Rev.
Manwaring. Interment in Mount Hope
cemetery.
