[written in 1914] Beebe Barry Brayton, an enterprising young agriculturist residing on section 35, Prairie township, is busily engaged in the cultivation of three hundred and twenty acres of land which he rents from his father. His birth occurred in [Brayton P.O., Buffalo Twp. Homestead Ranch] Sully county, South Dakota, on the 3d of October, 1887.

When three years of age Beebe Barry Brayton was brought by his parents from South Dakota to Delaware county, Iowa, and here he has remained continuously since. He acquired his early education in the public schools of the locality and subsequently pursued a course of study in the Highland Park College at Des Moines. Since putting aside his text-books he has devoted his attention principally to agricultural pursuits, but for nearly two years was in the insurance business at Ryan; for six months in the office of Ed Livingston & Company of Des Moines; and for eighteen months was traveling salesman for the same firm. He now cultivates three hundred and twenty acres of land in Prairie township which he rents from his father and which is part of the Fairview Farm, the property lying three miles north of Ryan. Mr. Brayton specializes in the breeding of Duroc Jersey hogs and Polled Angus cattle and also raises Buff Orpington chickens. His interests are capably conducted and he has become widely recognized as a progressive and representative young agriculturist of the community.

On the 20th of February, 1912, Mr. Brayton was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Turner. Mr. Brayton has been a resident of Delaware county during nearly his entire life and takes a helpful interest in all movements and measures instituted to promote the general welfare.
