Marvin was a friendly and compassionate man who proudly displayed his faith in God. He said prior to his death that he was blessed with overwhelming support from family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and strangers. A licensed private investigator, former FEMA employee and a shift supervisor for the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, he passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after complications due to primary amyloidosis. He was 55, a resident of Erwinville and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lakeland, on Friday, March 6, was from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Gregory Daigle, celebrant. Interment in Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeannette McCaa Pollet; three daughters, Cori Annette Pollet, Jaimie Pollet Lynch and Justine Mary Pollet; a son, Marvin Joseph Pollet II; a sister, Marquette Pollet Merritt; and five grandchildren, Jennah, Lee and Brielle Lynch, Randall "Trey" III and Camryn Andre. Pallbearers were Jason, Ray and Brent Moses, Benny and Dwayne Saucier, Steve Shaffett Jr., John Perrault and Randal and Trey Andre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sitman and Mary Nellie Andre Pollet; and sister, Novell Pollet Moses.
