James McClellan Hudelson and his family were part of the Tuolumne County Pioneers who crossed the Sonora Pass by means of the Walker River Trial in 1853. Their party consisted of James McClellan and his wife, Elizabeth Forrest Hudelson, their two sons and their families: James Gresham Hudelson and wife Mary Frances McClung, sons James William Hudelson and John Robert Hudelson. William Forrest Hudelson and wife Virginia Susan Herndon, son Thomas Herndon Hudelson.
