Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Austin Clar, of Poway, CA, one grandson, and two nieces. He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Austin Sanders.
After earning his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, he practiced medicine from 1936 to 1986. He built and opened Sky Haven Airport which was located at 3600 Washington Avenue. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Bedford Elks Lodge, the Ideal Club, and the Indiana Medical Society.
There will be a private prayer service for Richard Austin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23rd, at Cresthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Sacco officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the White River Humane Society.
