CANADA 1st New Brunswick Depot Battalion - WORLD WAR 1
Ernest M. Coffey of Presque Isle died at a local hospital on Sunday morning, November 27, 1966, after a short illness. He was 76. He was born October 5, 1890 at Harvey Station, New Brunswick, Canada. His parents were Henry and Mary Jane (Davis) Coffey.

He had lived and farmed in Presque Isle since 1921. HE was a member of the Grant Memorial Methodist Church where he had served as a member of the Finance Commission and as a trustee. He was an Honorary Trustee of the Church at the time of his death. He was a Canadian veteran of World War I, having served with the 1st New Brunswick Depot Battalion.

Other than his wife, Eva (Erskine) Coffey of Presque Isle, he is survived by one son, Arnold M. of Presque Isle; 2 daughters, Shirley Prince of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Irene Allen of Westfield; 3 brothers, Harold of Kapuskising, Ontario, Earl of Plymouth, NH, and Kenneth of Cork, New Brunswick, 5 sisters, Ethel Davis, Velma Grieves and Elsie Henry all of Harvey Station, New Brunswick, Bessie Maher of Milltown, NH, and Bertha Kitchen of Portland, Maine. He has 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 30, at 2pm at Grant Memorial Methodist Church. Rev. Edward F. Allen officiated. Interment was in Estes Park Cemetery at Easton.
