Born to Miles and Eva Walsh on March 25, 1919, Hazel was one of eight children, two of whom died in infancy. She and her siblings Loren, Allan, Margaret, Frank and Elsie were raised in Concord, Florida.

Hazel married G.B. Newton and from this union came two children, Dolores and Fred. The children grew as Hazel moved as jobs demanded, coming to rest in the Jacksonville/Orange Park area. Much of the time working three jobs, she continued to find time for working in her garden and growing the many beautiful plants that she loved so much.

In early 1968, Hazel took on another name - "the little ole lady from Pasadena". She bought a new 1968 Pontiac GTO and the streets of Jacksonville were never the same.

Hazel retired from Mack Truck Company in 1987 and lived in Orange Park until her move to California.

Hazel Elizabeth Newton, 89, of Chino, California died Friday, November 21, 2008 in Chino, CA. Hazel moved to California in October 2007 to be near her son Fred. She is survived by her son Fred A. Newton (and wife Ruth) of Ontario, CA,; a daughter Dolores E. Davis of Orange Park, F.; a brother Frank Walsh of Concord, Fl. and a sister Margaret Poggie of Tallahassee, Fl. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 14 Great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
