Joe L. Achenbach, 74, of Noblesville died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Mr. Achenbach was a lifelong farmer and had worked for several years at Guide Lamp in Anderson. He was born May 30, 1924, the son of Harry J. and Flossie (Lower) Achenbach. He was married to Patricia Anne (Dunn) Achenbach on March 9, 1947. She died July 1, 1987. Mr. Achenbach was a member of Perkinsville Community Church, the Mid America Threshing Association and Lapel Masonic Lodge Lodge No. 625, where he was a 50-year member. He graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1942. He is survived by two sons. Bill Achenbach of Arcadia and Tom Achenbach of Tipton; one daughter, Bonnie Riddle of Poland, Ind..; one sister, Mary Meeks of Tipton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Slate and Patty Meeks. and one son, James Bruce Achenbach. Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hartley Funeral Homes Arcadia Chapel. Masonic rites will be at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Aleshire officiating. Burial will follow in Arcadia Cemetery.
