Cambridge police officer dies at 37
Larry Leroy McKim, 37, of 710 Grant Ave., a member of the Cambridge Police Department, died at 12:22 a.m. today (May 11, 1981) at Guernsey Memorial Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Mr. McKim was born April 12, 1944, in Cambridge, son of Roy McKim of Cambridge and the late Eva Dyer McKim.
He completed 11 years with the Cambridge Police department on May 10. He was currently secretary of the Cambridge Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) lodge 10 and was Patrolman of the Year in 1977. He had served eight years as a patrolman and the past three years as a detective. He also had served as juvenile officer.
Mr. McKim graduated from Cambridge High School and attended Ohio Peace Officers Training School.
In addition to his father, he leaves his wife, Irma Curtis McKim; a son, Larry L. Jr. of the home; a daughter, Tammy of the home; a brother, Don McKim of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Scott - Atkinson Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jack Bowers officiating. Burial will be in North Salem Community Church Cemetery.
