**Opel Aileen Balls, 83, Carmichael, died Friday, Dec. 23, 1994.
**Mrs. Balls was born Opal Aileen Gridley on Nov 10 , 1911, at Oakley, Kansas. She taught country school and was a medical secretary in the Denver
area for many years. She was active in the Arden Christian Church and various other community activities.
**She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E., in 1977 and a daughter, Barbara Ann Scott.
**Survivors include a daughter, Betty L. Dean of Carmichael, a brother, Ronald Gridley of Oakley; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
**The funeral was Dec 28 at Lind Brothers Mortuary, 4221 Manzanita Ave., Carmichael, Calif. 95608. Burial was Dec. 30 in Fort Logan Cemetery, Denver.
**Memorials may be made to the Oakley City Library.
