Catherine Brogan came to the United States on May 4, 1882 from Glasglow, Scotland on the "Candandian" with her husband and son. Her step-father and mother and step-sisters were on the same ship and they arrived in Boston, MA.



She was married on January 1, 1882 to Reynold Lamont in Scotland.



Daughter of William and Mary (Crawford) Brogan both from Ireland. Her father died in a mining accident. Her mother remarried James Riley.

Mrs. Catherine Lamont Passes Away
After Illness of Several Weeks


Mrs. Catherine (Brogan) Lamont, aged 72 died at 9:30 Tuesday night at her home on First Street. She had been in poor health for several months with a complication of ailments, being bedfast for the past ten weeks.
The deceased was born in Scotland on March 12, 1861, coming to America in 1880. She and Mr. Lamont were married on January 1, 1882. They came to Nanty-Glo from Beccaria, Clearfield county, about twenty years ago and were engaged in the hotel business here for a number of years. Mr. Lamont's death occurred here in October, 1928.
Mrs. Lamont is survived by the following children: Thomas Lamont, Patton; William Lamont, mine superintendent and banker at Bakerton; Mary wife of Frank Callen, Nanty-Glo; Margaret, wife of Frank Mulvehill of Moxham, Johnstown; James P. Lamont, Altoona; Elizabeth McDermott, with who she made her home, and Ronald Lamont , both of Nanty-Glo. She also leaves 28 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one half-brother, the latter being Joseph Reiley of Osceola Mills. Funeral services will be conducted in St. Mary's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. The pastor, Rev. Father Thomas Marcinek, will be assisted by Father M. T. O'Connor of Johnstown and Father Quinn. Interment will be in Holy Name Catholic cemetery at Ebensburg.
