He was past president of the Middletown and Orange county Bar Associations. He also held many other posts in the town and county.
He is survived by his wife,Mrs. Cornelia Denton Bright , whom he married May 24, 1909, a son, John D, grandchildren Susannah and John 3rd Bright, and brothers Frank and Ellis Bright.
