Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Beth Louise Martin Johnson, died after a long illness September 4, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born to Leonore Harker Martin and Leon Martin November 27, 1910, in Murray, Utah. Married Floyd Henry Johnson July 14, 1932.Beth graduated from Murray High School where she excelled in typing and debate. She graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in education. She taught grades 1-8 in one-room schools in Mountain Home, Utah and Sage, Wyoming before her marriage. During World War II she worked at Remington Arms and then returned to teaching. She taught at Plymouth, Draper, and Mountain View Elementary Schools, and West Jordan Junior High.

Beth was a member of the LDS Church and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved her family and friends. Reading, music and travel were her hobbies.

Survived by son, Tony L. (Connie) Johnson; daughter, Carma Sue (Kenneth) Wells; son-in-law Tom Roper; grandchildren, Sam (Cecilia) Wells, Victor Wells, Bret (Tara) Wells, Sally (James) Burns, Lori (Roger) Dekeyzer, Holly (Chris) Palmer, Crystal (Mike) Handberg, Michael Johnson and Ryan Johnson; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Floyd, and daughter Charlynn J. Milne Roper.

Beth's family wishes to thank all the family, friends and caregivers at Woodland Park who cared for her during her long illness.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 8, 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday, September 9, 10-11 a.m., at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, with her funeral service at 11 a.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
