Jack Russell McClary, Sr., 78, husband of Sybil McAlister McClary, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at his residence. Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at McClary Cemetery.

Mr. McClary was born April 12, 1930 in the Millwood Community near Kingstree, a son of the late James Weldon and Mary Elizabeth Tisdale McClary. He enjoyed farming for 50 years and retired from the SC Forestry Commission after 35 years. He served in the SC National Guard and was a Mason, a Shriner, a Trustee of McClary Cemetery and a long-time coach for Millwood Little League Baseball. He was a member of Millwood Methodist Church. He was preceded by one son, Danny M. McClary.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of Kingstree, are: two sons, J. Russell McClary, Jr. (Karen) of Kingstree; and D. Glenn McClary (Diane) of Surfside; one brother, Joe A. McClary, Sr. (Mary Ann) of Kingstree; one sister, Ira Lee M. Barwick of Kingstree; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser St., Georgetown, SC 29440.
